Congress hopefuls square off

The Democratic rivals in the Second District Congressional primary squared off Monday night soon after Bowling Green mayoral candidates faced the same forum.

State Sen. David Boswell and Daviess County Judge-Executive Reid Haire, both of Owensboro, are vying to replace U.S. Rep. Ron Lewis, R-Cecelia, who announced just hours before the deadline to file for office that he would not seek re-election.

One of them will face State Sen. Brett Guthrie, R-Bowling Green, in the fall.

The forum at Bowling Green Junior High School was sponsored by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, WBKO-TV and Insight Communications, and moderated by WBKO anchorman Gene Birk.
